Fauteuil / Fauteuil / Fauteuil…

Fauteuil fauteuil fauteuil

Painting on fabric upholstered onto a Louis XV armchair in rough beech style. The fabric is attached to the wood by copper studs inserted every three centimetres.

The pictorial image of the armchair is thereby compared to the reality of the armchair itself. The repetition of the chair images poses the giddy possibility of sitting down without ever really being able to choose the chair you are sitting in.

The armchair, usually the “container” is now, in its turn contained; contained within itself. That is, until someone sits down in it.
